My Christian Mystic's Creed

  1. God, the creator of this universe, exists and is actively involved with the current events of this world and my life. I can only know this through personal experience.

  2. God is absolutely perfect. He has a perfect plan for me and all of existence. Again, I can only know this through personal experience.

  3. My own ego is evil because I am selfish.

  4. God, in his perfection, is just, so He could not have relationship with me but Jesus Christ satisfied God’s judgement, allowing me to have a direct relationship with God.

  5. Christ’s redemption of me, and all people, does not erradicate my own selfish spirit, but it does allow God to give me a Holy Spirit, through which I can speak directly to God. This Holy Spirit is the greatest gift in history.

  6. Because of my selfish spirit, everything I think and believe is to be held lightly and trusted only as long as the Holy Spirit speaks in tune with it. Therefore, all dogma is to be released.

  7. When I quiet my own ego and listen, God speaks through the Holy Spirit in me.

  8. The goal of my life is to listen to and follow the will of God.

  9. God has given us divine teachers and scriptures that speak to the culture in which they were written. They should be trusted only as long as they match the experiences and messages that God gives us today.

  10. There is an actionable path through which we can commune with the Holy Spirit if we enact it daily. It consists first of focus meditation, giving us the ability to turn our attention inward, followed by meditation on the character of God, namely thankfulness to God, compassion toward ourselves and others, loving-kindness, and lastly mindfulness to keep this frame of mind active in every moment of our lives. If we follow this path, we experience union with God, which is heaven on earth.
